New: See Energy Projects in your area!

Hey there,

Today we’re excited to share our latest Spark release: Energy Projects in your Reports!

“Who else has attempted a Solar or Battery Storage Project here?”

Have you ever wondered, “has someone else attempted a project here”?

As of today, you can with Spark’s new “Energy Project” views!

Spark had done hard work of scraping thousands of sites about a county or town’s energy development sentiment - whether it’s zoning, news, moratoria, and more.

Today, we’ve gone a level deeper and aggregated the utility solar and battery projects in your area - available with every Spark Report query.

Project Views - Local Zoning Regulations In Practice

Projects are where the “rubber meets the road”. They help you understand what planning departments actually care about and how regulations are used in practice, answering questions like:

  • Was there a project attempted here?

  • Who was the developer?

  • Did they get approved or denied? Why?

In the attached example, we see that a solar project was denied a few years ago with a 4-3 vote against it:

On November 16, 2023, Worcester County Commissioners made a controversial decision by voting 4-3 against a proposed solar project on Timmons Road.

Knowing how others have succeeded or failed ahead of time can save a developer a lot of headache. We hope Spark can help you get to that information much faster!
